Terror Leaders Turji, Sani Black Desperate For Escape As Military Clamps Down – CDS Reveals

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa, has disclosed that notorious terrorist leader, Bello Turji, is frantically searching for escape routes as military forces intensify their offensive against terrorist groups in Zamfara State.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the CDS Joint Task Force Commanders Conference in Abuja on Friday, Musa praised the progress made in combating banditry across the North-West region. He revealed that two of Turji’s key lieutenants, Kachalla Gwammade and Kachalla Shehu, were neutralized on Thursday night, delivering a major setback to Turji’s network.

“Both Turji and Sani Black are now desperately seeking escape routes as pressure from military operations mounts,” Musa announced.

He explained that troops followed up with operations in Tufan and Mashima villages, successfully dislodging armed groups and pushing them deeper into the forest. In a decisive move, the military also returned to Turji’s stronghold—previously targeted in earlier offensives—and this time completely obliterated the camp, erasing what remained of his operational base.

Musa stressed the military’s unwavering commitment to eradicating terrorist factions. “For years, bandits and terrorists exploited the country’s difficult terrain to establish fortified hideouts and launch deadly raids on communities. But with our current operations gaining momentum, the tide is turning,” he stated.

Reaffirming the military’s resolve, Musa warned that the era of impunity is over. “Security forces have sent a clear message to all armed groups: their days are numbered. We will not relent until every criminal network is dismantled and peace is fully restored,” he declared.

The Defence Chief urged troops and commanders to stay committed, dedicated, and focused on the mission ahead, highlighting the importance of their role in restoring national security.
