Acting Governor, Alhaji Faruq Lawal-Jobe, made this known on Saturday in Katsina while unveiling eight newly procured Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) to boost the state’s fight against banditry.
He described the attack as “tragic and deeply unfortunate,” stressing that it would not weaken the government’s resolve.
“The battle is not over until it is won. We will not relent, nor will we be distracted by the cowardly acts of these bandits. Instead of confronting the people openly, they chose to strike at dawn while worshippers were performing their religious duties. This is nothing but cowardice,” he declared.
Lawal-Jobe commended the bravery of residents, noting that the attackers had previously tried to invade the community but were fiercely resisted.
“They made several attempts to storm the village but were repelled. That resistance is what pushed them to launch such a despicable attack,” he explained.
The acting governor further emphasized the government’s continued investment in security infrastructure, pointing out that four out of eight frontline local government areas—Jibia, Batsari, Kankara, and Danmusa—had recorded significant progress.
“We have invested heavily in security assets, and our efforts are already yielding results. Four of the eight frontline local governments have witnessed notable improvements in security,” he stated.
He also revealed that the state had called on the Federal Government to complement Katsina’s ongoing efforts in combating banditry.
