This decision comes in response to the federal government’s cancellation of a scheduled meeting on Friday, which was the last attempt to prevent the imminent strike.
The labor unions remain resolute in their determination to proceed with the planned strike action. In a joint press conference held in Abuja on Tuesday, the two labor centers announced the strike, attributing it to the federal government’s failure to address the suffering and hardships faced by Nigerians due to the removal of fuel subsidies and other anti-poor policies enacted during the President Bola Tinubu administration.
Furthermore, they accused the government of a lack of willingness to engage in substantive and constructive dialogue, despite the 21-day ultimatum and the preceding two-day warning strike that took place on September 5 and 6.
