This decision was made in an effort to prevent the planned strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC).
In a statement released on Tuesday, Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, the chair of the Senate gas committee, stated that it would be unlawful for the president to proceed with the procurement of CNG buses without seeking approval from the national assembly.
Jarigbe commended the president for initiating the provision of CNG buses, acknowledging that it would alleviate the hardships faced by citizens.
