In a statement issued on Wednesday in response to the coalition’s formal unveiling of the ADC as its platform to challenge President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 election, Kachikwu dismissed the development as a political farce.
He explained that the coalition had aligned itself with Ralph Nwosu, whose tenure as ADC national chairman expired on August 21, 2022, and has since been the subject of multiple legal challenges.
“I watched with great amusement as the Atiku-led group declared their takeover of ADC’s national leadership. It’s laughable,” Kachikwu said.
He continued, “This group is dealing with Ralph Nwosu, whose leadership tenure ended in 2022. Can you build something on nothing? Can you declare yourself landlord by sneaking in through the back door?”
Describing the coalition members as relics of a failed past, he said: “These are the same political actors—former vice presidents, governors, and ministers—who’ve held sway over Nigeria for decades with nothing to show but a nation in crisis, plagued by poverty, division, and mediocrity.”
Kachikwu condemned what he called their insatiable hunger for power, stating: “They represent a bad chapter in Nigeria’s past, and now they’ve bought into a bad chapter of ADC’s past as well. Their goal isn’t national rescue; it’s a continuation of the status quo of ‘chopping must continue’ politics.”
Calling for a new direction, Kachikwu declared: “Nigerians are tired of your generation. We want new names, new faces, new ideas. We yearn for a country built on merit and justice, where tribe and religion are no longer tools for manipulation.”
He advised the coalition to “come through the front door” if they wish to join the real ADC, adding: “We are a party of principled individuals, and our style of opposition is not just about resisting—but offering real alternatives, something your group knows nothing about.”
Concluding, Kachikwu wrote: “I suspect you’ll be shopping for another party soon. As you do, we wish you Bon Voyage. Nigerians are watching—and rejecting you.”
