Things Have Changed” – Davido Reveals Why His House Is No Longer Open to Everyone

Award-winning Nigerian singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has explained why he no longer keeps a large entourage at his home, saying marriage, fatherhood and greater family responsibilities have changed his lifestyle.

Speaking in an interview with Vibe Magazine, the Afrobeats star said he now prioritises spending time with his wife and children, making it impossible to maintain the crowded household that characterised the early years of his career.

According to Davido, his decision to reduce the number of people around him does not mean he has abandoned longtime friends. Instead, he said he prefers to empower them financially by helping them establish businesses and become self-reliant.

“Now I live with my wife and kids. I can’t have 100 people in my house like I used to,” he said.

“It doesn’t mean the people who were around me are no longer my friends. I’ve made sure they’re financially settled. If you’re with me, I want you to have something you’re doing. If you want to start a business, tell me what you need, and I’ll support you.”

The singer added that he also rewards anyone who introduces business opportunities to him, revealing that he pays a 10 per cent commission regardless of the value of the deal.

“If you bring me a deal, you get your 10 per cent. I don’t care whether it’s worth four million dollars. If you brought it, you deserve your commission,” he said.

Davido also disclosed that his smaller inner circle has transformed the way he creates music.

He explained that while his previous recording sessions often resembled parties with large groups of friends in the studio, his latest project was produced in a more focused environment with fewer people present.

“In the past, there would be about 10 people in the studio. We’d be hanging out, drinking and enjoying the vibe. But because of where I am now in life, I can’t have 100 people in my house anymore. When it’s time to work, we stay focused and get the job done,” he said.
