Things Keep Getting Worse” – Olumide Oworu Opens Up On Why He’s Entering Politics

Nollywood actor Olumide Oworu has expressed concern over Nigeria’s declining state, saying he feels compelled to be part of the solution and help prevent the nation from further deterioration.

Speaking in a recent interview with Naija FM Lagos, Oworu explained that his decision to enter partisan politics stems from a desire to influence policymaking, noting that poor governance affects ordinary citizens—including himself—just as it does everyone else.

He stated, “I decided to join politics because of how the country is going. I know how Nigeria was when I was younger, but now, things keep getting worse. I want to start a family and raise my kids here, so I need to be part of the policymaking process. Every policy enacted today will impact me and my peers tomorrow.

“Also, many of the current politicians are aging, and the decisions they make now will be ones we have to live with in the future.”

Oworu had previously contested for a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly, representing Surulere 1 under the Labour Party in the 2023 elections, but lost to fellow actor Desmond Elliott. Despite the setback, his commitment to politics remains strong.
