Speaking with journalists after the exercise, the senator alleged widespread irregularities during the primary election, accusing agents of the state government of hijacking electoral materials meant for the process.
Jibrin also claimed that Governor Ododo worked against his senatorial ambition due to fears that he might later contest the governorship seat against him.
Expressing his displeasure over the outcome, the lawmaker said the political battle between himself and the governor had now begun.
“Well, with the latest development, I will now contest for the governorship position against Governor Ododo when the time comes,” he stated.
The senator further explained that when he arrived at his ward to vote, no electoral officials were present, adding that similar incidents reportedly occurred in several wards across the district.
He alleged that the absence of election officials and voting materials denied many party members the opportunity to participate in the exercise.
According to him, the situation was deliberately orchestrated to frustrate his supporters and influence the outcome of the primary election.
Jibrin also maintained that the developmental projects he had executed across Kogi East would continue to strengthen the APC and help secure victory for the party’s candidates, including the President, in the district.
He questioned why he was allegedly being sidelined despite his loyalty, dedication, and contributions to Governor Ododo and the APC.
