Three Arrested By EFCC For Lavish Naira Spraying At Delta Burial

Operatives of the Benin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have apprehended three individuals for the act of spraying naira notes during a burial ceremony. The EFCC disclosed this in a statement published on X.com on Friday.

According to the statement, the arrests were made based on credible intelligence indicating their involvement in the misuse of the naira. The suspects identified as Stanley Ogbolu, aged 35, Odiaka Sorwu, aged 42, and Kelvin Anyakwu, also aged 42, were apprehended in Asaba, Delta State.

“The suspects were caught at a burial ceremony where they were allegedly seen spraying naira notes on a celebrant,” the statement read.

The EFCC further stated that the suspects will face charges in court once investigations are concluded. This arrest is part of ongoing efforts by the EFCC to enforce laws against the abuse and mishandling of the Nigerian currency.

Earlier in May, the EFCC had reported the arrest of another individual, Janty Emmanuel, for a similar offense of spraying naira notes at a social event, underscoring the commission’s vigilance in curbing such illegal activities.
