According to a statement by ASP Henry Okoye, the state Police Public Relations Officer, John Chukwudi, 27, from Ntu in Ngor Okpala LGA, was apprehended on Wednesday during a patrol with local vigilantes along Human Race Hospital Road, Nekede. Authorities recovered a locally-made pistol and five live cartridges from him. During questioning, Chukwudi admitted to being a member of the Black Axe confraternity and claimed that the gun was supplied by his associate, Ugochukwu Ndubuisi, who remains at large.

In a separate case, Elijah Chigemezu, 23, from Ezzamgbo in Ebonyi State, was arrested on Sunday along Cluster Road, Naze, while in the act of robbing a man of his phone and personal items at gunpoint. A locally-made shotgun was recovered from Chigemezu, who confessed to the robbery following a prompt response to a distress call by police and military personnel.

Additionally, Chibieze Tasie, 32, was apprehended at No. 1 Naze after an investigation into a motorcycle theft case in Nekede. Tasie confessed to conspiring with an accomplice, Ndubisi (who is still at large), to steal motorcycles. Authorities recovered N170,000 from Tasie, which was part of the proceeds from his criminal activities.

All suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Owerri for further investigation.
