The fire began in the television section of Enyimba TV and Radio Limited, the parent company of the three stations, and quickly spread to the other facilities. Fortunately, the Abia State Fire Service managed to contain the blaze before it could spread to nearby buildings.
While there were no reported injuries or fatalities, the fire completely destroyed all broadcasting equipment. Enyimba TV and Radio Limited has announced a temporary suspension of operations at the affected stations while it investigates the cause of the fire and assesses the damage.
