The announcement was made in a statement by the short video platform, highlighting other African creators such as @theroamingchef from Kenya, @doctor.siya, and @pilot_onthegram from South Africa, who were also chosen for their impactful work.

Ekezie, renowned for using TikTok to challenge misconceptions about Africa and promote its cultural richness, expressed her mission, stating, “I leverage TikTok not only to entertain but also to raise awareness about the beauty of African culture and its people.”

TikTok aims through this programme to educate, advocate, and inspire communities globally towards meaningful change, reinforcing its commitment to empowering creators who champion important causes.

Ekezie will collaborate with Paradigm Initiative, an NGO focused on connecting underserved young Africans with digital skills and rights protection. Adeboye Adegoke, Senior Manager, Grants & Programmes Strategy at Paradigm Initiative, affirmed, “This opportunity aligns perfectly with our mission to promote digital rights and inclusion in Africa. We look forward to partnering with Charity to engage new audiences and amplify key messages on TikTok.”
