Their quest for answers led them to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH), where an MRI revealed a spinal tumor necessitating urgent surgery. Despite successful treatment, Henry’s condition deteriorated, marked by recurring seizures and the discovery of multiple tumors scattered across his brain.

“We were told there were just seven tumors initially,” Mrs. Henry recounted. “But by January 2023, that number had increased to twelve.”

Financial constraints compounded their anguish. Efforts to fund surgeries through various means, including alternative medicines and community support, yielded mixed results. Despite treatments, the tumors continued to proliferate, posing a severe threat to Henry’s eyesight and overall health.

“The neurosurgeon in Imo State advised us to raise N9 million for critical surgery,” Mrs. Henry lamented. “We’ve managed to gather N2 million so far, mostly through social media appeals, but we face an uphill battle.”

Henry’s ongoing struggle includes intensive physiotherapy to regain mobility lost due to the tumors’ impact on blood flow and nutrient supply. While seizures have subsided for now, the looming need for expensive surgery remains urgent.

“We’re hoping for a miracle,” Mrs. Henry said, her voice tinged with both hope and uncertainty. “Our journey continues as we pray for a way to secure the funds needed to save my husband’s life.”
