Comrade Opuama Joseph (JP), the National President of the coalition, made this request in Abuja yesterday, emphasizing the pressing issue of severe overcrowding in many Nigerian prisons that necessitates immediate attention and improvement.

Opuama expressed the view that the federal government should offer support to the service by increasing budgetary allocations to facilitate the ongoing reforms initiated by the Controller General of the service.

He also pointed out that despite the limited budgetary allocation to the service, Haliru Nababa had effectively managed the resources allocated to the service.

Opuama cited specific achievements such as the completion of NCS staff quarters in Abuja and the emphasis on training and retraining personnel to enhance productivity within the service.

Additionally, Prince Joel Samoh, the Secretary-General of the coalition, emphasized that the group represents various civil society organizations in Nigeria and is tasked with promoting peace, unity, and the nation’s development.
