This follows the announcement on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, that a coalition of opposition leaders has officially adopted the ADC as its platform to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
Nwosu, who is a founding member and long-serving chairman of the ADC, stepped aside alongside other party executives to make way for former Senate President David Mark and other coalition figures to assume leadership of the party.
Reacting to the development via his Facebook page, Igbokwe suggested that Nwosu had long endured political struggles within the ADC and now deserves to benefit from the coalition’s momentum.
He wrote:
“The luckiest man in this ADC Coalition is Chief Okey Nwosu. He has battled for this party for years. Okey Nwannem, take everything you can—it’s your moment. You worked for it. But the small bird will not fly. Cash out, bro.”
In a related development, former Minister of Transportation and ex-Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, stated that Nigeria was economically stronger and more secure during the tenure of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari.
Amaechi, now part of the emerging 2027 opposition coalition, asserted that President Tinubu was never the right person to lead the country.
Speaking during the unveiling of the interim national executive of the ADC, the former APC presidential aspirant reiterated his doubts about Tinubu’s leadership capacity and accused the current administration of failing to meet the expectations of Nigerians.
