Idris emphasized that the President is fully committed to ensuring that all relevant interests are considered in order to set the nation on a path toward greater economic prosperity. He also praised the robust public debate surrounding the tax bills and called for continued democratic engagement from all stakeholders.

The statement read: “The ongoing nationwide discussion on the tax reform bills currently before the National Assembly is encouraging and commendable. It is inspiring to see Nigerians from all backgrounds engaging on these crucial national matters. This represents the core of democratic participation.”

Idris urged commentators and groups to maintain a spirit of informed debate while being respectful of diverse opinions. He further stressed that such discussions should avoid name-calling or introducing ethnic and regional biases into the dialogue.

He also cautioned against the spread of misinformation and fake news regarding the tax bills and the broader fiscal reforms under the Tinubu administration. According to him, these reforms are designed to bring economic relief to Nigerians, enhance the financial capacity of states and local governments, and ensure sustainable growth nationwide.
