The caution follows recent incidents where #EndBadGovernance protesters in Kano were seen waving Russian flags and calling for Russian intervention in Nigeria’s governance issues. The protests, mainly involving young people, featured chants in Hausa and claims that Tinubu is influenced by global financial institutions like the World Bank, IMF, and the U.S.
Legal commentator Bulama Bukarti noted a growing pro-Russia sentiment in Northern Nigeria, reflecting a broader shift in opinion. Russia, currently in conflict with Western nations, has been associated with recent coups in West Africa.
