In his speech, Tinubu extended his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and urged an end to the violence and destruction.

“My fellow Nigerians,

Today, I address you with a heavy heart and a deep sense of duty, fully aware of the unrest and violence affecting some of our states. Many protesters, particularly the youth, have sought a better and more progressive nation where their aspirations can thrive.

I am profoundly distressed by the loss of lives in Borno, Jigawa, Kano, Kaduna, and other states, the damage to public facilities, and the looting of shops and supermarkets. These acts, which go against the organizers’ promises of a peaceful protest, set our country back as we will now need to use our limited resources to repair the damages.

I extend my condolences to the families of those who have died and call for an immediate end to the violence and destruction,” President Tinubu stated.
