Speaking at the 12th expanded stakeholders’ meeting of the Bayelsa APC in Yenagoa, Yilwatda—represented by the party’s Deputy National Chairman (South), Chief Emma Eneukwu—said the wave of defections was inspired by President Bola Tinubu’s performance in office.

“Our doors remain wide open. More governors are on their way to the APC, alongside senators, House of Representatives members, and other key figures, all because of the calibre, integrity, and results of the man we elected president,” he said.

Drawing a metaphor, Yilwatda compared Tinubu to a lion undisturbed by smaller animals:
“Others may be running around, claiming to challenge the president in 2027, but when a lion is present, the barking of small animals is meaningless. The lion continues his work, and that is exactly what the president is doing.”

He pointed to recent defections, including those of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwore and Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno from the PDP, as proof of Tinubu’s growing support base.

“It is natural for the opposition to bark, but Nigerians can see that we have a leader whose record even the blind can acknowledge,” he added.

Yilwatda further commended governors from the South-South and South-East for what he described as “realistic and courageous” decisions to abandon their former parties and align with Tinubu.

“They are joining the APC to ensure the president records an overwhelming victory in 2027, making governance smoother. This president is fearless—he takes the bull by the horn and delivers where others lacked political will. He is on course to take Nigeria to greater heights,” he declared.
