In a statement released on Thursday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu said the court’s verdict now provides the governor with the full opportunity to focus on delivering good governance.
“President Tinubu urges Governor Okpebholo to embrace all citizens, regardless of political affiliation, and work collectively towards the progress of Edo State,” the statement read.
With legal challenges now behind him, the President emphasized that Okpebholo must prioritize the provision of quality services and rapid development for the people of the state.
Tinubu also extended his congratulations to the Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), praising the party’s leadership and members for what he called a determined and resilient political and legal campaign.
Responding to the ruling, Governor Okpebholo hailed the Supreme Court’s decision as a “landmark judgment” that conclusively ends all legal disputes over the 2024 governorship election.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, the governor noted that the judgment was not just a personal victory but a reaffirmation of the collective will of the people of Edo State.
