Tinubu Extends European Vacation, President Set To Return To Nigeria This Weekend

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended his working vacation in Europe by a few days after completing the initial three-week period announced by the Presidency.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the President is now expected to return to Nigeria this weekend following the extension of his stay abroad.

Tinubu departed Abuja on August 30 for Europe to begin his annual leave, with London, United Kingdom, as his first destination. The Presidency had described the trip as a working vacation and initially stated that the President would spend three weeks abroad.

During the vacation, Tinubu has continued to engage in selected official activities. He was in Paris, France, where he held discussions with business leaders, including Bolloré Group Chairman Vincent Bolloré, on investment opportunities and the expansion of the group’s operations in Nigeria’s creative and digital economy.

The extension means the President will spend a few additional days in Europe before returning to Nigeria, with the Presidency indicating that his return is expected during the weekend.

The development comes as the President’s absence from the country has attracted public and political discussion, particularly following the completion of the originally announced three-week vacation. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar separately raised questions about the constitutional arrangements surrounding the President’s absence and called for clarification on the exercise of presidential powers. Those comments represent Atiku’s position on the matter.

The Presidency has not indicated any change to Tinubu’s official schedule beyond the extension of his working vacation and his expected return to Nigeria this weekend.
