The APC Professionals Forum (APF) applauded the President’s prompt response to allegations of malfeasance, stating that it sent a strong signal to federal appointees about the seriousness of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The governors, meeting in Abuja, reiterated their strong support for the Tinubu administration.

Imo State Governor and PGF Chairman, Hope Uzodimma, emphasized that the government’s role includes encouraging positive actions and appointees while discouraging negative ones. He urged patience until investigations were completed, cautioning against hasty judgments and unnecessary anxiety.

The suspension of Dr. Edu followed a leaked memo revealing alleged financial irregularities, leading to criticism and subsequent interrogation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The APC governors also expressed readiness for upcoming elections, stating that the party is prepared to participate at any time.

Governor Uzodimma highlighted the meeting’s objective, which was to review national events and strategize on how to support the government’s policies. The governors affirmed their unity in supporting the APC administration and President Tinubu, with a commitment to taking these policies to the grassroots.

In a related development, the APC Professionals Forum commended President Tinubu for swiftly suspending officials involved in questionable actions, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to integrity. The forum praised the reduction of expenditure on official trips and urged the recruitment of progressive-minded individuals into vacant positions.

Presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, supported the suspension of Minister Edu but urged the government not to spare anyone found culpable. Obi called for a comprehensive investigation into the matter, emphasizing the importance of accountability and judicious use of public funds. He cautioned against trivializing the issue and urged the government to punish all those responsible for any wrongdoing.

Obi highlighted the alleged misappropriation of public funds meant for poverty alleviation, expressing concern about the insensitivity of diverting funds intended for the poor. He called on the Tinubu administration to initiate a thorough investigation into reported cases of fraud and corruption among high-ranking government officials.
