Tinubu Unveils Record-Breaking ₦1.78 Trillion FCT Budget For 2025

The budget proposal was formally presented on the floor of the House of Representatives by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen, in accordance with Section 299 of the Nigerian Constitution, which entrusts the National Assembly with legislative authority over the FCT.
In his accompanying letter, President Tinubu highlighted that the budget will focus on key sectors such as healthcare, job creation, social welfare, and agriculture. He also reiterated his administration’s dedication to advancing infrastructural development and enhancing public services within the capital territory.
A major portion of the budget—85 percent of the capital expenditure—will go toward completing ongoing projects, while the remaining 15 percent is earmarked for new ventures.
President Tinubu urged lawmakers to prioritize and swiftly pass the budget, emphasizing its critical role in sustaining FCT development and improving service delivery to its residents.
