During the Ministerial Press Briefing on Thursday, Idris acknowledged the initial challenges posed by the reforms but highlighted their positive effects, including a decrease in food prices, stability in the exchange rate, and a gradual reduction in the cost of petroleum products. He reassured Nigerians that President Tinubu is leading with a strong sense of responsibility and that history will view his administration positively.

Idris emphasized that President Tinubu is guided by “the utmost fear of God and deep conviction” and is focused on ensuring his administration is remembered for its positive impact. He stressed that meaningful reforms require patience, resilience, and dedication to long-term stability.

“We have crossed a critical threshold, and while the pains are still present, the positive outcomes of these reforms are starting to show. Food prices are decreasing, the exchange rate is stabilizing, and the cost of petroleum products is gradually lowering—these are clear signs of progress,” he said.

He also called on religious leaders to use the ongoing sacred period of Ramadan and Lent to pray for the country’s progress and urged unity and collective efforts to strengthen Nigeria.

“Our nation is at a pivotal moment as President Tinubu introduces bold and transformative reforms to lay the foundation for a new Nigeria. History has shown that meaningful reforms are never without challenges; they require sacrifice, resilience, and a commitment to long-term progress. The initial difficulties are the price we must pay for a more stable and prosperous future,” Idris noted.

He thanked Nigerians for their patience and continued faith in the President’s vision and encouraged religious leaders to pray for the nation, emphasizing that with unity, faith, and collective effort, Nigeria will emerge stronger and more resilient, poised for lasting prosperity.
