“My view is that the creation of ADA is welcome. I support a multiparty system where diverse opinions and ideologies can thrive,” Okechukwu said.

“Contrary to what the promoters of ADA might believe, their emergence could actually strengthen the APC and President Tinubu’s re-election bid. Their assumption that the northern electorate can be easily swayed or mobilized en masse for a northern candidate is misguided. The North has one of the most politically sophisticated electorates in the country.”

Okechukwu dismissed claims that the North is disillusioned with Tinubu, pointing out ongoing infrastructure projects and reforms across both northern and southern regions, as well as initiatives like the creation of regional development commissions and financial autonomy for local governments.

He also criticized the ADA’s argument that the South would have governed longer than the North by 2027. He called the claim a “conviction bias,” stating that historically, the North has led the country for a longer period since independence.
