Matawalle, a former Governor of Zamfara State, made the remarks in a statement issued on Friday through his Special Assistant on Political Affairs, Ibrahim Goga.
He argued that many of the President’s critics are simply disgruntled politicians who failed to secure positions in the current administration and are now resorting to propaganda out of frustration and desperation.
“President Tinubu has shown exceptional dedication to solving the challenges affecting the North, particularly in security and infrastructure,” Matawalle said, dismissing claims that Tinubu is a liability in the region as politically motivated attacks.
He further alleged that some former officeholders, now out of power, are using misinformation to remain in the public eye while covering up their own lackluster legacies.
“These individuals had their time in leadership but contributed little of value. Now they claim to speak for the people, using deceit and theatrics to gain public sympathy,” Matawalle added.
Highlighting the administration’s achievements, the minister pointed to progress in the security sector, especially through Operation Fansan Yamma, which he said has significantly weakened terrorist networks and restored calm to previously troubled areas.
“This year’s Easter and Ramadan celebrations were among the most peaceful for many communities in the North, thanks to strategic efforts by the President and our security agencies,” he noted.
Matawalle also praised the ongoing revival of major infrastructure projects in the region, describing them as further evidence of Tinubu’s commitment to national development.
