Tracka, a project tracking non-governmental organization, has raised concerns over the healthcare situation in Ijagun Ilu Community of Iwo Local Government Area, drawing attention from Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke. According to Tracka, over 1,000 residents in this community lack access to adequate healthcare services, relying on a converted Shoplet as their only treatment facility for years.
Despite community efforts, including donating land for a new health center, Tracka emphasized the urgent need for intervention, warning of serious health consequences if a proper healthcare facility is not established soon. The organization has called on Governor Adeleke, the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, and the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Ali Pate, to address the situation promptly.
Meanwhile, a review of Osun State’s 2024 budget reveals significant allocations to the health sector, totaling ₦23,149,906,250.00, with ₦2,324,150,000 earmarked for capital projects by the Ministry of Health. Despite these allocations, the state government has yet to respond to Tracka’s appeal for assistance in Ijagun Ilu Community.
