This announcement was made on Thursday by Jonathan Modi, the chairman of Ukum Local Government Area. He revealed that the trafficked children endured severe hardship and forced labor during their ordeal.
Modi explained that he was informed of the situation by his security secretary, Aku T. Enoch, who quickly coordinated efforts with local security operatives. Their collaboration led to the apprehension of the traffickers by law enforcement agencies.
The rescued children have been identified as Favour Shidoo Mngerior Fan Adure, Mecivir Kume Jessica (from Mbayingo Shitile, Katsina-Ala), and Joy Dooyum Fan Adure. Modi’s deputy, Ivasekwan, received the children in Makurdi.
In a message to parents, Ivasekwan urged vigilance when entrusting their children to others, highlighting the increasing prevalence of child trafficking for financial gain. The parents expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Jonathan Modi for his prompt and effective response, promising to heed his advice to protect their children moving forward.
