Tragedy As Lagos Car Dealer Loses 21 Exotic Cars Worth Over ₦700 Million To F!re
A Lagos-based car dealer, Mohammed Moses, has recounted the devastating losses he suffered after a fire destroyed 21 exotic vehicles worth more than ₦700 million at his workshop in the Isheri-Idimu area of the state.
The inferno reportedly occurred in the early hours of October 30 at Moses Auto Car Care, located on Oladunni Street, Isheri-Idimu.
According to information shared about the incident, the fire broke out at approximately 3:05 a.m., destroying vehicles belonging to the dealer as well as cars purchased by customers who were yet to take delivery of them.
Moses disclosed that vehicles valued at over ₦500 million belonging to him were lost in the blaze, while customers also suffered losses estimated at more than ₦200 million.
Recounting the incident, the dealer said he had closed the premises at about 10 p.m. before receiving an alert from his security guard around 2 a.m.
Expressing shock over the scale of the destruction, Moses said the fire had consumed not only his vehicles but also those belonging to customers who had already paid for their purchases.
He explained that some of the affected customers had not even had the opportunity to take possession of their vehicles before the fire destroyed them.
The incident has raised concerns about the financial consequences of fire outbreaks, particularly for businesses handling expensive assets and customers whose property may be kept on their premises.
Emergency responders reportedly managed to contain the blaze before it spread to a nearby petrol station, preventing what could have resulted in further destruction.
However, the cause of the fire has not yet been established, leaving the car dealer and affected customers facing substantial financial losses.
