Speaking in an interview with ARISE News, Adewale recounted that officers found Maduagwu unconscious at the scene and rushed her to Maitama General Hospital, where doctors attempted to revive her with CPR but were unsuccessful.
According to him, the armed robbers stormed Unique Apartments, a three-storey twin building with 18 flats around the Gishiri axis under Mabushi Division. Amid the chaos, Maduagwu, who lived on the top floor, jumped from the third storey out of fear.
“Policemen moved to the scene and found her lying unconscious. She was taken to Maitama General Hospital where doctors tried resuscitating her, but sadly, she did not survive.
Some unknown gunmen had invaded the premises. Two private guards were on duty, and one who bravely confronted the robbers sustained a gunshot wound.
In the panic, Somtochukwu jumped from the topmost floor. The consequence was tragic and deeply unfortunate,” Adewale said.
The police commissioner added that a special investigation team, headed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Investigation) and supported by tactical units, has been set up to track and apprehend the culprits.
While expressing condolences to Maduagwu’s family, Arise News, and Nigerians, Adewale vowed that no stone will be left unturned until justice is served.
