Tragedy In Kaduna: Federal Road Safety Corps Recovers ₦3.7m After Fatal Crash

Operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) attached to the Zaria Unit Command in Kaduna State have recovered and returned ₦3,727,500 in cash, along with valuables worth approximately ₦500,000, from the scene of a fatal road accident.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The recovery followed a crash that occurred on Sunday, March 15, 2026, along the Zaria–Funtua Highway, near Zaria Academy.

According to the FRSC, the accident involved a Toyota Corolla and a Peugeot 806 carrying nine passengers. One passenger died at the scene, while eight others sustained injuries of varying severity.

In a statement released on Monday, the Corps Public Education Officer, Felicia Kalu, said rescue teams responded promptly after receiving an emergency alert from the crash site.

She explained that the responders administered first aid to the injured before evacuating them to Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Shika for urgent medical treatment.

During the rescue and post-crash clearance operations, FRSC personnel reportedly discovered a substantial amount of cash and other valuables scattered at the scene.

The statement noted that the officers handled the situation with professionalism and integrity, carefully securing the recovered items.

It added that the ₦3,727,500 and other valuables were safely preserved and later returned to the rightful owners.

The handover took place on Monday under the supervision of the Zaria Unit Commander, Nasiru Falgore, a Chief Route Commander, in the presence of relatives and witnesses.

The Shehu Mohammed, Corps Marshal of the FRSC, praised the Zaria officers for their honesty and professionalism, describing their conduct as consistent with the organisation’s values of integrity, accountability, and commitment to public service.

Beneficiaries of the recovered money and valuables expressed gratitude to the officers, commending their swift emergency response and ethical handling of the situation during a difficult time.
