Sources reveal that the ransom demand has surged from the initial N60 million per person to a staggering N100 million, resulting in a cumulative demand of N700 million. Shockingly, the victims, including a 13-year-old high school student named Folorunsho Ariyo, were allegedly executed due to perceived delays in meeting the kidnappers’ financial demands.
Recent reports highlight the ruthless tactics employed by the kidnappers, who also operated in villages within Bwari. One of the six abducted persons was reported killed to coerce the family into promptly raising the demanded ransom.
Dutse, situated under the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), is now grappling with an alarming surge in criminal activities. Faced with the apparent inaction of the government and security agencies in rescuing the abducted individuals, the residents of Sagwari Layout are mobilizing for a large-scale protest.
Initially slated for Monday, the protest has been rescheduled to Tuesday, acknowledging the Armed Forces Remembrance Day. The community members, feeling cornered by the escalating violence and the loss of lives, are determined to voice their grievances against the perceived lack of decisive action from authorities.
