The crash, which occurred on Monday, December 29, along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, resulted in the deaths of Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele, while Joshua sustained minor injuries.

The 36-year-old boxer was discharged from hospital on New Year’s Eve and returned to the United Kingdom on Saturday.

Joshua broke his silence on Sunday through a post shared on his social media pages. The post featured a photo of him standing with the families of the deceased, accompanied by the caption, “My Brother’s Keeper ❤️🕊️❤️.”

The image reflected a moment of mourning, unity and support as the boxer paid tribute to his longtime associates.

Reports indicate that the accident happened when the SUV conveying Joshua and three others rammed into a stationary truck, allegedly due to brake failure.

Joshua narrowly avoided death after moving from the front passenger seat to the back shortly before the collision, reportedly because his size was obstructing the driver’s view.

While Ghami and Ayodele lost their lives in the crash, Joshua suffered a leg fracture and remained in stable condition, with no emergency surgery required.

The boxer had only recently arrived in Nigeria for a holiday following his knockout victory over Jake Paul when the fatal incident occurred.

Since his return to the UK, Joshua had stayed away from the public spotlight, making Sunday’s post his first public acknowledgment of the tragedy.
