Sh*cking Smuggling Tactics Exposed As NDLEA Arrests 22 Indians
Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have seized large consignments of illegal drugs, including Ketamine, Ecstasy and Tramadol, cleverly concealed inside coffee mix sachets and book parcels destined for Zambia and the United Kingdom.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The agency disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday by its spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, noting that the interceptions were carried out at a Lagos-based courier company on December 24 and 29, 2025.
In a related development, NDLEA officials arrested 22 Indian crew members of a merchant vessel, MV Aruna Hulya, after uncovering 31.5 kilograms of cocaine at the GDNL terminal, Apapa Port, Lagos, on Friday, January 2, 2026.
Cocaine Discovery at Apapa Port
The cocaine was hidden in Hatch 3 of the vessel, which sailed from the Marshall Islands. Among those detained were the ship’s master, Sharma Shashi Bhushan, along with 21 other crew members whose arrests followed the discovery.
‘Mama Kerosine’ Nabbed in Oyo
In Oyo State, NDLEA operatives on Monday, December 29, 2025, arrested a notorious female drug trafficker, Fatima Ilori, widely known as Mama Kerosine. The 65-year-old was described as a major distributor of illicit drugs in Ibadan and was apprehended during an intelligence-driven operation that followed the seizure of 238.4kg of skunk linked to her.
She was arrested alongside another suspect, 35-year-old Olusanya Abosede, in the Onireke/Elekuro area of the state capital.
Drug Supply to Insurgents Disrupted in Borno
In Borno State, NDLEA operatives disrupted an alleged drug supply network linked to insurgents with the arrest of two suspected dealers. One of them, 26-year-old Isa Mohammed, was apprehended on the Maiduguri–Gamboru Ngala road on Friday, January 2, 2026, with 9,150 ampoules of Tramadol Injection.
Another suspect, Musa Samaila, 30, was arrested the same day at Biu Market in possession of 34,000 Tramadol capsules.
Massive Cannabis Seizures Nationwide
In Lagos, NDLEA officers recovered no fewer than 400kg of skunk and a van at the Mobolaji Johnson area on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2026.
Similarly, in Jigawa State, a 39-year-old suspect, Bilya Ibrahim, was arrested at a motor park in Hadejia on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, while attempting to transport 260 compressed blocks of skunk weighing 140.8kg from Taraba State to Nguru in Yobe State.
In Kwara State, officers recovered 238.5kg of skunk from a suspect’s residence in the Asadam area of Ilorin on Tuesday, December 30. Another suspect, Abubakar Rabiu, 32, was arrested the following day at Bode Saadu in Moro Local Government Area with 32,000 pills of Tramadol and Diazepam.
NDLEA Steps Up Drug Abuse Awareness
Meanwhile, NDLEA commands nationwide sustained their War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) advocacy through sensitisation programmes in schools, religious centres, workplaces and communities. These included outreach sessions at Madrasatu Fadimatul Zahra in Katsina State, engagements with youth groups in Badagry, Lagos, and community enlightenment at the palace of the Hakimi of Madalla in Niger State.
Commending the efforts of officers across the DOGI, Apapa, Oyo, Borno, Lagos, Kwara and Jigawa commands, the NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Mohamed Buba Marwa, urged personnel nationwide to intensify ongoing operations against drug trafficking and abuse.
