According to reports, the gunmen targeted the vehicle driven by the Alara of Ikole Ekiti, who was transporting the traditional rulers. The assailants successfully carried out the attack, resulting in the tragic deaths of Oba Olatunde Samuel Olushola and Oba David Babatunde Ogunsakin. Michael Ogungbemi, the chairman of the Ajoni Local Council Development Area, confirmed that the gunmen aimed to abduct all three traditional rulers.

In response to the incident, the state police spokesman, Sunday Abutu, acknowledged the event but requested time to gather detailed information before providing further updates. The community is left in shock and mourning as the authorities investigate this distressing act of violence against the revered traditional leaders.
