According to a report from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the fire outbreak was triggered during the unloading of six 75-50(kg) gas cylinders from a stationary mini truck to a nearby gas shop. The incident led to an explosion from one of the compromised cylinder caps, igniting a fierce blaze.

“The resulting fire rapidly spread across the street, fueled by one of the gas cylinders that was propelled over, engulfing a total of 18 shops and their contents, along with the mini truck,” the statement from the Fire and Rescue Service explained.

Fortunately, there have been no reported casualties or injuries as the fire was swiftly contained.

Authorities are urging caution and adherence to safety protocols when handling gas cylinders to prevent such incidents in the future.
