He secured re-election for a second term, having garnered 209 votes, surpassing his closest rival, David Ombugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who received 283,016 votes, while Abdullahi Maidoya of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) managed to secure 11,726 votes.
However, dissatisfied with the election’s outcome, both the PDP and the NNPP, along with their respective gubernatorial candidates, filed petitions with the tribunal in an attempt to annul Sule’s victory.
Justice Ezekiel Ajayi led the three-member panel that rendered the judgment through virtual means in Lafia.
