Governors, National and State Assembly leaders, and prominent political figures gathered in Agege, Lagos, on Tuesday for the eighth-day Fidau prayer of Alhaji Sulaiman Atanda Obasa, father of Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Also present were Speakers of Oyo, Osun, and Delta states Houses of Assembly, religious leaders, Lagos State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Kazeem Alogba, members of the Lagos State cabinet, the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), and other dignitaries.

During the event, guests praised the Speaker’s father’s exemplary life and urged his descendants to follow in his footsteps. Governor Sanwo-Olu led prayers for Speaker Obasa, emphasizing unity within his family and acknowledging the nationwide connections built by Obasa. Governor Abiodun highlighted the late father’s generous spirit, stressing the importance of integrity and service in public office.

Governor Oborevwori, despite political differences, commended Speaker Obasa’s leadership, while Speaker Ogundoyin expressed gratitude for Obasa’s contributions to the Conference of Speakers.

Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa announced plans for water projects in honor of their grandfather, as Speaker Obasa thanked attendees, reflecting on his father’s guidance and leadership
