Following his inauguration last Monday, President Trump signed an executive order mandating the deportation of illegal immigrants from the U.S.

In response, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio imposed a visa ban on Colombian officials involved in the dispute, issuing the following statement: “The State Department will continue to enforce and prioritize an America First agenda. After President Petro’s refusal to accept two repatriation flights that he had previously authorized, Secretary Rubio immediately ordered the suspension of visa issuances at the U.S. Embassy Bogota consular section.”

Secretary Rubio also announced travel sanctions on the individuals responsible for the interference, stating that these measures would remain in place until Colombia fulfilled its obligation to accept the return of its citizens. He emphasized that the U.S. would not compromise on its national security interests.
