Popular Nigerian TV host, Rufai Oseni, has expressed his disapproval of the Senate and House of Representatives’ plan to spend N40 billion on purchasing vehicles for lawmakers.

Reports have emerged stating that 107 units of the 2023 Toyota Landcruiser and 358 units of the 2023 Toyota Prado will be procured for members of the Senate and the House of Representatives, respectively.

He questioned why government officials do not support local manufacturers but instead opt to import cars from abroad.

In his series of tweets, Oseni highlighted the need for government officials to drive Nigerian-made cars and criticized the lack of support for local car manufacturers.

He expressed concern about lawmakers prioritizing their own interests over those of the people and questioned the necessity of purchasing new cars when the previous assembly’s vehicles could still be utilized.

Oseni also drew a comparison to American presidents who support their country’s auto companies and emphasized the importance of promoting the Nigerian economy by purchasing locally made cars.
