Two Killed In Abeokuta Carpark Shooting By Armed Assailants

In the early hours of Monday, November 11, a tragic incident at a carpark in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, resulted in two fatalities. Armed gunmen opened fire on occupants in a car parked at the location.
According to a statement from the Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, the shooting took place around 12:30 a.m. in the parking lot of Diamond Dumplings in GRA, Abeokuta. Odutola revealed that three armed men arrived in an unregistered black Toyota Hilux, confronting the occupants of a black Mercedes Benz GLE 350 with a DLA number plate and demanding the car keys.
“The attackers, three armed men in an unregistered black Toyota Hilux, demanded the car keys from the occupants of a black Mercedes Benz GLE 350 with a DLA license plate,” Odutola stated. “They opened fire, hitting Ola (surname unknown), Shobanke Oluwatimileyin, and two others. The Divisional Police Officer from Ibara responded to distress calls, arriving on the scene to secure the area before transferring the victims to the hospital.”
Upon arrival at the hospital, medical personnel confirmed two individuals had passed away, while the remaining two victims are currently undergoing treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Idi Aba, Abeokuta.
Police spokesperson Odutola further noted that a preliminary investigation is underway to determine the motive behind the attack, including any possible connections to cult activities.
“The public will be updated on the investigation’s progress as efforts continue to apprehend the suspects,” she added.
