Two Men Condemned To Death By Hanging In Landmark Murder Case....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In Ukwa, Abia State, a High Court has delivered a verdict condemning former members of the now-disbanded Bakassi Group, presently known as the Abia State Vigilante Services, Mr. Ugochukwu Amaugo and Mr. Udo Ogba Oka, to death by hanging for their alleged involvement in a murder case. The presiding judge, Hon. Justice Chibuzo Ahuchaogu, announced the decision, finding the defendants guilty of a murder that transpired on August 30, 2013.

The convicted individuals, who were part of the defunct Bakassi group, later rebranded as the Abia State Vigilante Services, claimed to have apprehended two young men, Temple Nwakanma and Martins Azih, on August 30, 2013, in Osisioma, Aba. They alleged that the duo was in possession of firearms, cartridges, and knives. According to their account, the arrested men were taken from Osisioma to the Umuahia office of the vigilante group, where they encountered Nigerian Army personnel at Abia Tower. Subsequently, the military requested custody of the detainees, a request to which the convicts complied.

The convicts, however, asserted that they were unaware of the identities of the military personnel and did not receive any documentation at the time of the handover. Unfortunately, the whereabouts of the detained young men remained unknown thereafter, with the local military authorities denying having received the individuals, as asserted by the Bakassi Group members.

Despite the passage of 11 years since the incident, efforts to determine the fate of the missing individuals have yielded no results. The case reached its conclusion on Thursday, with Hon. Justice Chibuzo Ahuchaogu delivering a death sentence by hanging to both former members of the Bakassi group. The judgment was based on the failure to conclusively demonstrate that the defendants had handed over the detainees to the Nigerian Army and, consequently, were unaware of their subsequent disappearance.
