Two Suspects Arrested In Catholic Priest Kidnapping CaseThe Edo State Police Command has arrested two individuals in connection with the kidnapping of Catholic priest Rev. Fr. Thomas Ayode. The State Commissioner of Police, Umoru Ozigi, announced the arrests on Wednesday during a parade of seven suspects involved in various criminal activities across the state.

Ozigi reported that the suspects were apprehended for offenses such as armed robbery, kidnapping, cult activities, and car theft. He stated, “The command has responded to the unfortunate incident involving Rev. Fr. Thomas Ayode by enhancing security measures in collaboration with the community, deploying a unit of the Police Mobile Force.”

He confirmed that two suspects had been detained regarding the priest’s kidnapping and that efforts are ongoing to rescue him, apprehend additional suspects, and bring them to justice. All arrested individuals will face prosecution in court once investigations are concluded.

Rev. Fr. Ayode, who is the Rector of the Immaculate Conception Minor Seminary in Ivanokpodi, was abducted last Sunday by armed assailants. The kidnappers have contacted the Diocese of Auchi, demanding a ransom of ₦200 million.
