UAE’s President Brands Iran ‘Enemy,’ Warns Nation Is No Easy Prey
Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has publicly labeled Iran “the enemy” and warned that the United Arab Emirates is “not easy prey,” signaling a stark departure from the UAE’s traditionally cautious approach toward its Gulf neighbour.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The president, widely known as MBZ, made the rare remarks while visiting a hospital treating civilians injured in recent strikes.
“I wanted to send a message to the enemy of the UAE. The UAE is beautiful, a model to be followed, but do not be deceived. The UAE’s hand is strong, its flesh is bitter, and we are not easy prey,” MBZ said.
Like other Gulf states, the UAE has faced missile attacks attributed to Iran, targeting not only U.S. bases but also civilian and economic infrastructure.
His comments came shortly after Emirati air defence systems intercepted a missile threat, despite earlier statements from Iran’s president suggesting a halt to Gulf strikes.
“We are fulfilling our duty to our country, our people, and all who live among us. May God protect the UAE, its people, and everyone within it, and bless it with security and safety. I promise that what is coming will make us stronger,” MBZ added.
The statement marks MBZ’s first public comments since the outbreak of conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. Historically, the UAE has maintained careful diplomatic relations with Iran, making the direct language particularly noteworthy.
Analysts say the remarks indicate that the UAE now sees Iranian missile strikes on its territory as crossing a red line, prompting a public response even at the risk of heightening tensions with its powerful neighbour across the Gulf.
