Unexpected Journey: US Citizen Unravels Mystery Surrounding Return To Nigeria
A 68-year-old man hailing from Ondo State, Joseph Ibironke, with a claimed history of nine years in the United Kingdom and 21 years in the United States, finds himself bewildered as he shares his inexplicable return to Nigeria.
Speaking exclusively to Saturday PUNCH, Ibironke, a resident of Igbara Oke in Ifedore Idanre Local Government Area of Ondo State, reveals he is married with four children but is distressed by not knowing their current whereabouts.
According to Ibironke, he attributes his predicament to a spiritual attack, narrating an incident where his Texan wife reported him barking like a dog and foaming at the mouth after an intimate encounter. The mysterious ailment led to a 14-month hospital stay in California, where doctors couldn’t diagnose the issue. Concerned Nigerians in the US suggested a spiritual cause and recommended treatment in Nigeria.
Upon arrival in Nigeria, Ibironke found himself abandoned at the psychiatric hospital in Sabo Yaba, where his family had arranged for his treatment. Subsequently, he faced a journey through various institutions, including a psychiatric hospital, Kirikiri Correctional Service, and the Redeemed Christian Church of God.
Despite being treated and cared for by the church in Kirikiri, Ibironke ended up under a bridge in Oshodi until assisted by the police. Eventually, he was taken to Pakoto Prayer Mountain in Ifo, under the guidance of Prophet Ezekiel Oladeinde, where he began his recovery, realizing only then that he was back in Nigeria.
