According to Wakil, the detained student was found in possession of a locally-manufactured gun, a homemade pistol, and 9mm live ammunition. The suspect has reportedly confessed to the charges, contending that the weapons belonged to an individual previously arrested for possessing a homemade pistol in 2021.

In a separate incident, a 28-year-old operator of a business café in a Bauchi suburb has been apprehended for allegedly swindling ATBU students of N663,000, intended for their school registration fees. Wakil stated that a preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect deceitfully obtained the funds and subsequently provided his victims with counterfeit registration slips.

The police spokesperson affirmed that the suspect has acknowledged issuing fraudulent registration slips to numerous ATBU students. He assured the public that both suspects will face legal proceedings after thorough investigations are conducted.
