UNIZIK Students Move To Raise N2m Ransom For Kidnapped Colleague
A community of students from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, is uniting to secure the release of their kidnapped friend and fellow student, Miss Francisca Chioma. Chioma, a student in the Science Education Department, disappeared while traveling to a funeral ceremony, sparking deep concern among her peers, family, and the university community.
The university’s Chief Security Officer, Ken Chukwurah, confirmed the incident, emphasizing that it occurred outside the school premises and that the Department of State Services (DSS) has been actively involved in the case.
Initially demanding N10 million ransom, the kidnappers later lowered the amount to N2 million, with a deadline set for Tuesday. Struggling to raise the funds, Chioma’s friends and classmates have launched a public fundraising campaign to gather the necessary amount.
In a heartfelt plea shared on social media, one of Chioma’s friends, identified as Collins C, urged compassionate Nigerians to contribute to the cause, emphasizing the urgency of meeting the kidnappers’ demands before the deadline.
The Anambra State Police Command, represented by its spokesperson, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, confirmed the kidnapping and appealed to the victim’s family, friends, or any witnesses to come forward with relevant information to aid investigations.
The community’s collective efforts are aimed at ensuring Chioma’s safe return, underscoring the power of unity and solidarity in times of crisis.
