The traditional ruler of Iresaadu in Oyo State, Oba Adeyeye Oyerinde, has voiced his frustration over the prolonged delay in receiving his salary and entitlements, even after five years of being in office. Expressing concerns about potential attempts to replace him with another candidate, Oba Oyerinde highlighted the risk of unrest in the community.
Speaking through his legal representative, Adekunle Raji, at the Nigeria Union of Journalists Press Centre in Ibadan, Oba Oyerinde called upon Governor Seyi Makinde to intervene. He underscored that his appointment by the state government on May 24, 2019, was done following proper selection procedures.
“The recent events in Iresaadu have brought to light a troubling issue that threatens justice and peace in the state. Despite the governor’s efforts to uphold fairness in governance, it’s evident that certain individuals are undermining these efforts,” stated the monarch.
Oba Oyerinde condemned the non-payment of his salary and entitlements, deeming it a violation of his rights. He also expressed concern about alleged moves to replace him, warning of potential chaos in the community.
The monarch urged Governor Makinde to review court rulings and seek legal counsel from the Ministry of Justice to ensure his rightful recognition and compensation.
