Governor Okpebholo visited Senator Jibrin in Abuja to offer condolences over the reported killing of 16 hunters traveling to the North. In a statement on his handle on Monday, Jibrin reiterated that those responsible for the tragic incident must be held accountable.

Jibrin commended the Governor’s efforts but urged him to leave no stone unturned in ensuring justice is served.

He stated:
“The Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, paid me a condolence visit in Abuja over the killings of innocent travelers from Kano in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State.

The Governor, during his visit to my Maitama residence in Abuja, condemned the killing of innocent travelers as unfortunate. He informed me that 14 suspects arrested in connection with the killings would be transferred to Abuja for further interrogation.

He also mentioned the Edo State Government’s plan to support the families of the deceased, including setting up a committee for this purpose.

I commended the Governor for his efforts so far and urged him to ensure that justice is pursued relentlessly. Before our meeting, I had repeatedly reached out to him regarding the matter.

As promised, we will make sure that the perpetrators face the full weight of the law to deter similar incidents. Justice must be served.”
