Achonu is one of the contenders challenging Uzodimma in the upcoming November 11 gubernatorial election.
Speaking in Owerri, Uzodimma accused the LP candidate of making false claims about constructing primary healthcare centers in all 27 local government areas.
The governor asserted that Achonu, who previously represented Imo North senatorial district, had never initiated the construction of community healthcare centers, deeming such claims as deceptive and potentially criminal, subject to legal repercussions.
Uzodimma alleged that the former lawmaker had misappropriated significant sums of money allocated by the federal government for healthcare projects.
He also pointed out that Imo State’s federal allocation was being withheld to cover the “embezzled funds,” which was impeding the state’s development.
